The New York Post had a nice cover for yesterday’s Sunday paper: “Beauty and the Geek” which brings to life the reality of Second Life. Several entrepreneurs are suing a Queens, NY man for counterfeiting and selling versions of their products. But as the Post puts it: “Here’s the catch: The products aren’t real, and the alleged crimes took place in a virtual world on the Web.” Funny article but it’s true! As if the judges don’t have enough to deal with, now they have to prosecute make-believe worlds. Or is Second Life as real as we make it? The virtual education world is abuzz with the potential of Second Life in distance education. What I’m thinking is: will K-12 deans now also have to deal with virtual fights and virtual pencils being stolen?? If the judges do, then why not?
