Now there’s a better way for mobile RSS (for your crackberry or windows mobile device)

January 15, 2008 · No Comments

I love iGoogle as an RSS reader because it’s got a beautifully simplistic interface with a google search box that we can use as our homepage.  But iGoogle lacks two things of great value:  feeds by keywords and a decent mobile RSS reader.  In comes Newsgator to save the day with their amazing RSS reading products:  web based, mobile, and even an outlook plug-in.  Their mobile RSS reader isn’t brand new, but it’s newly free and it’s REALLY amazing.

You can set up your feeds on the web based product and they’ll appear on your mobile device in a logical easy to use interface.  It works with your windows mobile phone and blackberry device.  You can set up smart feeds (based on keyword) and read them on your phone or on the web.

Make your Blackberry 8700c sing with the new Google Talk or Yahoo Instant Messenger clients

I tried the Google Talk client but I’m probably going to use the Yahoo Messenger since my IM’ing friends are mostly on Windows Live and it’s compatible with YM. Maybe you’re not sure why you should use instant messaging when you can email everyone. Remember, IMs are less formal, more fluid conversations that have overtaken emails as the primary mode of communication for the under 30 crowd. For kids, email is something only old people do.

Putting Google Maps on your Blackberry 8700

October 25, 2007 · 3 Comments

This is shameless. I have created this post to draw my colleagues to my blog once again. What makes it worse is that I better understand my need for attention after taking the DiSC personality profile at my monthly departmental meeting. It says that I require “enthusiastic public praise for my verbal ability and interpersonal skills”. So colleagues, after reading this, please respond appropriately — I need it. And it will help you better communicate with me… and Sonia said.
